CBD BASICS

What is Hemp?

Hemp is a nutrient dense plant used for food, fiber, and medicine.  Its flowers, stalks, stems and leaves contain CBD and other phytocannabinoids.

What is CBD?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol.  CBD is one of the most well known compounds among the dozens of naturally occurring compounds (aka “cannabinoids”) in the Cannabis Sativa plant.

What are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids enhance communication between cells in our bodies.  They interact with receptors in our Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to promote homeostasis, the body’s natural state of balance.  Two types of cannabinoids are endocannabinoids, which our body naturally creates and phytocannabinoids which are derived from cannabis and hemp.

What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?

The Endocannabinoid System assists in regulating balance, sleep, mood, appetite, inflammation, immunity, memory and overall homeostasis.  The Endocannabinoid System is vital in our body’s ability to function.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Hemp and marijuana both belong to the Cannabis Sativa L plant species.  Both species produce CBD, however Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC -- the intoxicating substance) is produced at significantly different levels.  The hemp plant is classified as having less than 0.3% THC meaning you get all the beneficial properties of cannabis without any intoxicating effects.

Will I get high from CBD?

No.  CBD does not get you high.  CBD is a non intoxicating cannabinoid.

What is the Entourage Effect?

The Entourage Effect refers to findings that whole-plant Cannabinoid extracts are more effective than isolated Cannabinoids because they are accompanied by other naturally occurring components in the plant.  These may include THC, terpenes, plant waxes, vitamins, minerals, and other phytocannabinoids.  When all of these elements are combined it allows for the greatest impact on the body.

What is the difference between CBD oil and hemp seed oil?

Hemp derived CBD oil and hemp seed oil have significantly different properties. Hemp derived CBD oil is extracted from the entire plant, giving you every potential benefit of cannabinoids and scent compounds called terpenes.  Hemp seed oil is only extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant and contains zero CBD. Our products at PureLee Farms contain CBD oil derived from the entire hemp plant giving you all the benefits hemp has to offer.

Is CBD legal?

Yes, our CBD products are completely legal according to the 2018 Farm Bill.  Hemp derived CBD must contain less than 0.3% THC per industry regulations.  At PureLee Farms, our hemp derived CBD products are extensively 3rd party tested to ensure they adhere to industry regulations.

How much CBD do I take?

Everyone requires a different amount of CBD in their wellness routine.  Experimentation will help find what works best for your body to achieve your goals.  Within a couple of weeks, you should find the amount that feels right and provides the support you are seeking.

What time of day should I take CBD products?

Some people find our CBD products beneficial in the morning for focus and calm as they start their day.  Others find them helpful in attaining relaxation during the day or at bedtime to achieve a consistent night’s sleep.  Experimentation will help find what works best for you and your body, based on your goals.

Should I take CBD every day?

At PureLee Farms we say consistency is key.  CBD builds up in the body over time so daily use can help maintain a more effective Endocannabinoid System (ECS), resulting in a more balanced state.
